South Africa_______________________________________________________

 

McGregor Winery             Region: Robertson, Breede River Valley 

Chardonnay

 A nice full wine with tropical flavors of banana and pineapple very prominent. Lovely varietal characteristics are on display on the nose and on the palate through to a clean, dry finish. Your ideas about chardonnay will be changed after tasting this one! 

Porterville Wine Cellar     Region: Swartland, Piketburg 

Chardonnay 

 Aromas and flavors of ripe peaches, pears, and subtle tropical fruits ending in a fresh crispness. A light buttery aspect underlies the tropical fruit and carries through to a nice lengthy finish. This wine has the ability to stand alone or pair with lighter foods. 

Chenin Blanc 

 Full floral bouquet with flavors of bright guava fruit which are crisp and zesty. A rounded, well-balanced wine with a lingering finish, perfect as an aperitif and pairing nicely with cheeses. One of the few white wines that can stand up to spicy oriental foods. 

Ruitersvlei Estate            Region: Paarl 

Shiraz/Merlot

 Fifty per cent Shiraz, Fifty per cent Merlot, this wine is a deep purple, red in color having aromas of leather and peppercorns followed by cherries and spice. Full-bodied flavors of cherries, spice and a good dose of pepper leave you with an excellent dryness and long finish. 

Darling Cellars            Region: Swartland, Groene Kloof

 

Cinsaut/Merlot

 Eighty per cent Cinsaut, twenty per cent Cabernet Sauvignon. Cinsaut ace Abe Beukes has tweaked this 2001 for supreme swiggability with soft, pulpy fruit on the palate with aromatic wafts of clove. 

Merlot 

 This wine is full and smooth across the palate with slight hints of cigar-box coming from four months in oak. Lots of plum with a hint of savory beetroot tones. 

Cabernet Sauvignon 

 This wine on the palate has a soft, bright instant drinkability with cherries and walnuts making it full and sweet on the palate. It is French Oak matured, ready to drink now but will hold for years. 

Onyx Pinotage 

 This wine is densely packed with ripe berry fruit. The summer pudding texture palate broadens to a firm, dry tannic finish. This wine is excellent now and can only become even more irresistible over the next four to six years. 

Sailor Mountain                            Region: Robertson 

Ruby Cabernet 

 This full-bodied, deep crimson wine offers rich aromas of ripe berry on the nose. Blackberry flavors with hints of toasty chocolate moderate silky tannins, which lead to a smooth and clean finish.

Mountain Gate                    Region: 

Cabernet Sauvignon

 Spicy Cassis-laden aromas lead to accessible earthy, dark berry fruit. Fennel and cocoa notes lead to a dry, lengthy finish. Helderberg terroir shines through in this wine.

Lammershoek Estate           Region: 

Chenin Blanc 

 Barrel fermented in French oak, delivering aromas of quince, caramel, baked apple and buttered toast. Off dry in style, but with firm acidity carrying flavors of ripe stone fruit and dried pineapple to a lengthy finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 		 Cassis, mulberry and vanilla on the nose yield to a balanced and well- structured palate with authoritative flavors. Good acidity and firm tannins provide a pleasant and aromatic palate of bitter cherry, red currant, strawberry, cocoa powder and fresh herbs. Complex in the mouth and on the nose with sweet, attractive candied fruit and spicy oak flavors. Dense and bright.

Shiraz/Carignan

  

Positively Zinful 

A ruby port style wine showing the great capabilities of Zinfandel. Berries and currants predominate on the nose. Dry figs, currants and sweet spice are carried by good acidity through to a clean finish

Milliman Estate

Sauvignon Blanc		 Tropical fruit, gooseberry and green pepper are evidenced in the bouquet. The flavors intensify on the palate with tropical fruit, fig, rhubarb and flintiness underlying a crisp, dry finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon/Malbec

 Concentrated spicy nose of blackberries and mulberries with toasty hazelnut and oak. Ripe, sweet fruit flavors are well integrated and balanced by soft grainy tannins.

Cabernet Sauvignon/Malbec Reserva 

 Intense garnet in color. Deep spicy nose of blackberries, mulberries with toasty hazelnut and oak. Ripe sweet fruit flavors are well integrated and balanced by soft tannins.

Shiraz/Malbec Reserva 

Rich ripe black currants and mulberries with integrated toasty spicy oak on the nose. Intensely mouth-filling fruit is balanced by subtle savory oak, with very good depth of flavor.

Zinfandel Reserva

 

 Lifted spicy and savory nose of dried fruits and raisins augmented by toasty sweet oak. Rich, mature fruit flavors with savory hints are well integrated with grainy tannins.

Argentina_________________________________________________

Amor de Los Andes                Region: La Rioja 

Torrontes 

 An aromatic white, reminiscent of Muscat on the nose. Balanced and flavorful, the wine has tropical fruit, peach and spicy flavors throughout with a crisp, lingering finish.

Syrah

 Fat, pulpy fruit explodes on the palate, giving a full impression of dark red fruit with some smoke and spice. The finish is impressively fruity and clean.

Tempranillo 

 A medium weight wine which shows the characteristics of its Spanish heritage. Pleasantly fruity aromas with some tobacco, spice and oak tones and a good, dry finish.

Malbec 

 A mid-bodied wine that is rich and fruit driven, with flavors of blackberry, blueberry, plum and with a hint of spiciness. Good acid/tannin balance are revealed in the toasty, lush texture of this wine.

Bridgeway Cellars 

Zinfandel  

 The wine opens with dark, rich plum and raspberry aromas with creamy vanilla oak and overtones of clove, nutmeg and spearmint. On the palate, it expresses the intense varietal character of old vine Zinfandel, with raspberry jam flavors. Ripe, mid-palate tannins contribute to a lively rolling texture and the promise of further development with age. It is very well balanced with a long, luscious finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon "Napa"

 This elegant wine opens with intense blackberry and floral aromas accompanied by accents of rose petals and blueberries. On the palate, rich plum flavors are accented by touches of blackberry jam and cassis, with a hint of licorice. A velvety texture and well rounded body lead to a smooth, slightly dusty finish.
